What is National Night Out?

National Night Out is an annual event designed to strengthen communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with local law enforcement.  The goal is to heighten crime/drug-prevention awareness, generate awareness of and participation in our local neighborhood watch programs (the West Side Watch and the East Side Watch), foster neighborhood spirit and solidarity, and most importantly, send a message to criminals that criminal and drug activity will not be tolerated in our neighborhood

Make a Stand

We had an awesome turnout at our Second Annual National Night Out in Second Street Park...It was a wonderful show our solidarity in our fight against crime in our neighborhoods!  Residents of Bangor turned on porch lights Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 6-8pm in support of our Neighborhood Watches and National Night Out!  Thank you!

Welcome East Side watch to the NNO family:

West Side Watch was pleased to welcome the East Side Neighborhood Watch to our City’s 2013 National Night Out endeavor!  As a collaborative effort, we were able to offer an evening full of safety and crime prevention tips as well as demonstrations from Maine Traditional Karate, Team Worden Cycling, Bear Brook Kennel, and the Bangor Police Department.  Thank you to the safety exhibits from Time Warner Cable and the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department!
